have not seen many butterflies yet due to the constant rain. i caught this one sunning itself on a warm wall between deluges. the red admiral was taken from above.
Size: 67-72mm slightly larger size than Large White

First Generation flight period: May-July
Second Generation flight period: Aug-Nov (classed as regular migrant. A few Red Admiral butterflies may hibernate in S. England)

Habitat:
Larval Food Plants: Nettles, Hops
Wild Nectar Plants: Hemp agrimony

Family Group: Nymphalidae

Hi Sue. Have not got one yet. you have captured a good picture here. bright colours and good detail. I like the over head POV showing the markings well. and a nice DOF.all in a good looking frame. very well done TFS.

A nice capture of this admira,.well exposed and focused,I saw and pictured my first admiral as well this week however the wings were worn,your specimen looks quite fresh,tfs
