Excuse the quality but I have flu but still managed to catch this tiny mouse whilst sitting in the garden, photographing scrag, who got quite jealous when I turned the camera on this for a quick snap. The poor mouse ran straight passed me slammed into a black plastic bag before skitting off.
We thought a hawk had him this year but he seems to survive in the garden.
You need a fast shutter speed for these fast creatures and probably luck normally.
Have found out what mouse he is:-
The long-tailed field mouse also known as the wood mouse, to the despair of the kitchen gardener (now I know who has had my strawberries this year) He is 8-10cm from long snout to tip of tail, and has large prominent eyes and ears. Chiefly nocturnal it burrows up to 90cm underground to keep a store of food though it does not hibernate.
Well you learn something new every day... |
