I once order a bunch of ladybugs from some company...and they arrive all quite alive and well...via postal as I recollect...Now as to what they ate or did for my garden I have since forgotten, but I found the advert in a Mother Earth News...very old copy before John and wife sold it....Certainly a contrast in colours from green to red....I wasn't aware of the sub species with names, but everything has names I reckon..Fine show Sir Nick!

It is not easy to take a good quality picture of ladybird. And this one looks really great! I like perfect composition - the insect on this leaf looks fantastic. Photo has very good clarity, DOF and POV too. Nothing to add!

I count 4 spots (-: How is it possible that the complete light derision can come on here back, without using the flash? The contrast between the colors is wonderful. For a better composition (my opninion) I would crop a bit of the lower part of the photograph. Anyway a beautiful shot of this ladybird. Thanks for sharing. Greetings and TFS BOB
