Hello Everyone,

Today I am posting one of the most difficult shots I have ever had to take! It is a photograph of a small hedgehog taken in complete darkness!

I stumbled upon this little fellow at about 11.30, against a wall on the footpath to our garden. It was very sleepy and, not wishing to unduly alarm it, I took a couple of shots with the least possible disturbance. His eye is open just a little and, if you look carefully, you will see a tiny bit of the claws of his front feet.

We have once found a hedgehog in our garden before but that was in the afternoon. If hedgehogs are found wandering around in the day time, that is because they are usually ill. This one was ill. We took her to the local hedgehog hospital in Burnley and, thankfully, she made a complete recovery.

Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you enjoyed the shot.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the shot.

Hi Bev

Great posting - lovely POV and nice detail. I had no idea how many hedgehogs there really are until we got a dog - she always hears them on her last walk at night.

Hi Bev

Great shot of the Hedgehog, well done for capturing it in the darkness.
Nice details and superb natural caolours.
I found one last year trapped in my outhouse, I put on a pair of gloves and put it under my rhubarb then thought oh should have got my camera!

Hil

England never seems to amaze me....you took it to a hedgehog hospital? Wow! Now that is dedication for sure Bev....and finding a hedgehog hospital here in the US...I don't think so...veterinarians are even hard to find..Very well seen and what a great surprise capture.
Bob

Hello Beverley,
I really like those guys!
There were lots of them where I used to live some years ago, and they were always welcome visitors in the garden during the evening where they were treated with milk...
------
I also like to take this opportunity to thank you for support and advice!
It has been great and I have learned a lot through the many fine presentations in TrekNature!
Greetings,
Pablo -
