[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus). This bird is very successful and widespread across pretty much the whole planet! This particular specimen is of the Eurasian subspecies G. c. chloropus. It can be found on the edges of almost any body of fresh water - in this case a small pond in the middle of Central Bournemouth. When I captured this shot in September 2007 there were two adults around the pond, a couple of juveniles and five young chicks. I was interested to see the juveniles helping the chicks to find food.

I found an excellent page full of information on Moorhens at wikipedia

Kind Regards

Hi Vinny,
you should take a trip over to the river around Throop Mill, if you haven't already, lots to shoot over there at the moment! Was this taken in the Gardens?
Good timing to catch the wings in this pose, sharp detail and a nice setting too.
cheers,
Paul

Hi Vinny. Nice pose inthis one with the wing up and open. Your sharp focusing has given fine detail , with rich but stll natural colours. A good POV. well done TFS.
Nick..

Have a good weekend.

Well done, Vinny.
And with catchlight in the eye:-).
Nicely framed through its habitat.
