[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. It has been much brighter here in England, we now know that the sun does still exist!

Today I am posting a shot which I took in the nearby town of Colne. This wonderfully prickly thistle was growing in the garden of a derelict house. I'm quite sure that it would not have been allowed to flourish if the house had been occupied! I thought it an interesting change to capture it in its green finery before the purple flower emerged.

It's prickles were remarkably long and provided good protection for a little ladybird that I saw nestling there. The lack of greenfly or other tasty morsels, made me think either the lady bird had 'cleaned-up' or it was just there for a safe rest.

The Spear Thistle (Cirsium Vulgare) flowers July - October, grows in grassland, hedges or wasteland and is a biennial.

Many thanks for your visit.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.
Bev :-)

Hi Bev

I especially like the way that you have used the leaves to fill the frame. The etail is great too. The splash of red from the ladybird completes the image.

Hi Bev,
very nice spikey detail and texture, framing is also well seen too. The only slightly distracting thing i think possibly would be the white blur on the concrete in the BG behind that great looking leaf sticking out on the right...but that's just nit picking really! It's a great image, well done!

Great little capture, Bev.
The details in the thistle are superb, of course.
I would love to see a tighter close-up of the ladybird (if you have one)

Hello Bev,
Very nice composition showing a close-up of the Spear Thistle. Not very friendly looking but a haven for insects! Good details and fine natural colours. I hope the good weather stays with you for a bit!
TFS and cheers, Ulla
