Great Willowherb
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Great Willowherb Epilobium hirsutum. Also known as Greater Hairy Willowherb. This species can be found in damp and marshy areas such as river banks and ditches. It also occurs in chalky meadows. It forms clumps of stems 1-2 metres high, and bears purple-pink flowers in summer. The leaves are covered in fine, silvery hairs. Although it can be a little invasive it is sometimes grown as a garden flower.
