Hi Nicholas,
Sorry for not being able to help with ID but photo is a very good close-up of the fly.
Lighting is good rendering nicely the colors and extracting the main subject from background. Good DOF showing sharp details. Composition is also very goor and the drops of water look great.
Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Je je, vaya ampliación que hiciste del mosquito. Bonito encuadre. Siento no conocer su ID, además tengo hoy poco tiempo.

Hi Nick!
No chance to ID :-) I tried to check flies in my Collins Field Guide, but thera are many very similiar species. This picture looks... refreshing :-) I like diagonal composition, many crystal droplets and of course sharp main subject.

Hello Nicholas,
Dexia is a financial in Belgium:-)
You used a very small aperture to get a lot of depth of field.

Hi Nick,
Great shot of this insect that I wouldn't have been able to identify either. He just fits crosswise on the leaf. The details are excellent - I love being able to see through the transparent wings. Wonderful colors - I see where the Rustica comes from. The water droplets are a bonus. I like the background and the diagonal composition.

Is it just me or is there a breeze in this room? Aha! I waited until someone gave a partial if not complete ID...I tried a bit but gave up. Not surprised to see it is parasitic...of course..flies have this born quality...SHARP picture Nick. Keep on trekking...I may be back soon...or maybe not...unsure at this point...If nothing else in photography I see it from my heart and soul.

Hello Nicholas, I am not an expert but looking at the picture i think may be belonging to hoverfly or housefly category. Ganesh

Hello Nick,
Very fine macro of this little fly. I doubt it is D. rustica by the way it is holding its wings straight along the abdomen. I have several fly shots I can't identify, there are too many of this species! ;-) Anyway, this is brilliant, very sharp and beautiful colours against the lovely wet background. Well done!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Nick.
I like full of sunlight and vibrant colours picture with amazing diagonal structure and terrific details and sharpness of the fly, leaf and water drops. Superb DOF and exposure parameters. Have you used tripod? Exposure time is rather long and focal length of the lens is long too. Well done and kind wishes.
Alexei.

i choose this one because of water drops on leaf wich improve the visual impact very well!
