Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am posting a series of shots which I took of a bee working hard to get nectar and pollen from a Snapdragon flower.

The flower has a hinged platform which the bee has to land on. It then forces open the flower before it can enter. By making the bee enter in such a predetermined way, the flower ensures that either the stamens, or the stigma, are just in the right place to be touched by the bee and ensures cross-pollination. A well developed mechanism of Nature!

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

Hello Beverly!

Fantastic post and observation! I think TN needs more posts like this one. TN spirit is not only taking photos but also observing, enjoing and learning about nature. Great series of photos, very educational and interesting. I saw this in one of BBC documentaries, I'm glad that I can see it again on TN.

Hi Beverly! I liked your idea of making a series of the bee pollinating. The color and sharpness is also great.
You did a great job on this one! Excellent!
TFS.

Hello Bev,
A fine montage showing how a Bumblebee can enter a Snapdragon taken good fine sharpness and a great reminder of how useful these delightful insects are. If it weren't for bumblebees I don't think we would have as many plumbs or peaches in our garden.
TFS this excellent sequence and for yor kind words on my second anniversary on TN,
Best wishes, Ivan

Hello Bev,
Lovely presentation of 'The BumbleBee and The Snapdragon'! :-) I used to have Snapdragons in the garden and it was fun watching them get into the flowers and totally disappear. You're also showing us two species of BumbleBees! Fine details and beautiful light and colours in this series!
Many thanks and have a nice weekend, Ulla

Hi Beverley. What a great set of pictures of the Bee and flower. The first one would have been good on its own. they all have good detail and colours. I have looked at them again and see two different bees . No 1 and No 2 are not the same one. I like it a lot very well done TFS.

Hi Bev,a very great idea this little series,a work not easy to take so perfectly, this terribles bombus are always moving! My best compliments, finnlay something to different on TN,have a nice day,Luciano

Super montage. It reminds me of a history book I read on the starts of making movies. This sort of panel horizontal montage is used often in the book and is also the work I do with AVID for my video...You can tell a nice story in this way...Very well done Bev.
Bob

Hi Beverley
A nice collage of a bee pollinating a Snapdragon. The colours are really striking. I've never seen a bee disappear into a flowers before, nice timing. Well done.
TFS Janice

Hi Bev,
Very interesting presentation. Pictures are well composed and display in sharp details how the bee is progressing in its task. Colours are also very bright and natural.
