Hi Beverley!
One never would say that it was raining hard. And I please to say that indirect light most of the time is better than direct sunlight, the colours are more natural. Your picture is the best proof for that, the colours are superb!
Kind regards
Markus

HelloBev,
Wow, indeed!! You not only saw one for the first time in your vicinity but you also managed to get a superb capture of one! Great focus on the main parts and very fine colours. It does look a bit wet too, poor thing! Here grasshoppers are common but not easy to photograph!
Well done!
TFS and have a nice weekend, Ulla
Well done Beverley!
A superb macro of a female Common Green Grasshopper (Nick is right about the ID), taken from a fine low POV with excellent sharpness and contrast with the BG. The colour is a bit oversaturated but that's a minor point in this otherwise excellent image. Your first? You've missed your vocation! :))
Thanks for sharing this beauty and have a good weekend,
Ivan

You will surely think I am kidding you but NOT. TODAY...this morning I saw one green like this almost EXACTLY and it the FIRST time I have ever seen one this colour in all of my time in Washington and that is one long time..ours are usually drab..You don't suppose it is a special time of year or maybe a cycle of some special kind. What are the odds! I had no camera..what are those odds!:-) Wow...tomorrow I post my first image with a Canon:-)

Hi Bev,
It's gorgeous! I would never have guessed the weather was bad - you did a great job with wonderful colors and details. I love the water droplet on his face. We usually have lots of grasshoppers and flying grasshoppers here in the summer and this year I didn't see a single one. You are right to be thrilled with this - why not have a print made and put it in a frame?

Hello Beverley,
This is an excelent close-up of the grasshopper with excelent sharpness and very nice colors. There is a fine contrast between insect's colors and the dead leaf in the background.

Merhaba Beverley,
Mükemmel alımlı renkler.
At shutter speed 1/40, you have taken such a sharp and crisp image your hands must be rock steady, Beverley.
The specimen you have shot it very attractive both in terms of colours and features. It is difficult to believe you took this picture while it was raining.
Thanks for sharing it and best regards.

Hi Bev,
Splendid shot! Didn't know you have grasshopper this size in the UK, at first I thought it might be of the African swarming locusts blown off course!!
Cheers.
