Aphantopus hyperantus, The Ringlet
England is having a good summer with many warm sunny days. Yesterday I encountered a veritable host of newly emerged Ringlets near my work place. However, pictures are still not easy to get. The warmth makes the butterflies very active and they rest for only very short periods. Also, they like to settle down among the grass stems and a clear point of view for a 180mm lens is difficult to achieve.
This shot, though, is quite pleasing. I hope you like it. It was hand held and has fill-in flash. It has been cropped resized and selectively sharpened for TN. |

Hello Alan,
Nice macro of a fresh specimen of a Ringlet taken from a fine POV with excellent sharpness and good use of flash. Well composed on the grass blade against an OOF natural BG.
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

Hi,
Yes, I understand the difficulty we go through to get a decent image but this is fair enough to show the species well and good. tfs.
