The Long Tailed Tits don't come into the garden every day but when they do about ten or more come at once. When they arrive they seem to come from no where and stay about 10 minuets and then go just as quick. They remind me of a gang of naughty boys that wont keep still. They dart around all over the place. They are difficult to capture because of this.

Long-Tailed Tit . ( Aegithalos caudatus ) Length 14 cm.

The tiny rounded body and slender tail of the Long tailed Tit gives it a ball and stick shape, that is quite unique among European birds.

In summer family parties move noisily through bushes and undergrowth, but in the winter they often travel through woodland in much larger groups, crossing gaps between trees .

Feeding flocks often resemble animated feather dusters.

The plumage can look black and white but at close range has a pinkish wash to the underpatrs and pinkish buff look on their back.

It has a tiny stubby bill.

Voice: High, thin, colourless seee seee seee short abrupt low trrp or zerrp.

Nesting: Rounded nest of Lichen., moss, cobwebs and feathers with a side entrance in low bush. 8-12 eggs, 1 brood. April-June.

Feeding: Tiny Insects and Spiders taken from twigs and foliage, some seeds.

They are becoming increasingly seen at garden feeders.

Hy Nick
You are right with this birds: I often seen them at my work coming in the trees in front of the office, spending not more than 15 minutes and them flying away. And are easilly recognizible by the noise that they make.
Very cute this, captured very well.
Kind regards, Oana

Hello Nick,
Though this Long-tailed Tit is a bit ruffled, it is a fine capture of it.
The lateral POV and sharpness are excellent and though the BG is a bit busy it is OOF and provides good contrast in this excellent composition.
Thanks and have a good week,
Ivan
