| The Kingfisher - Alcedo athis is an iconic bird much admired by the people of the UK. I was sat in my small pop-up chair hide next to a small stream that flows through an industrial site in my city. Quite by chance a male Kingfisher presented himself in front of my hide. Later in the week a female, the one pictured, perched only feet from me and I managed to get this picture of her. Fortunately she remained very still and even with the low shutter speed i managed to freeze the detail. |
