Well I guess ever time I visit here I try something different. Today I post a birds-eye view of the Giants Causeway. I left the people in the frame so as to give some measure of scale to the basalt columns.

The Causeway is a region located at the tip of Northern Ireland and is renowned world wide for its beauty and unique geological qualities. The region is made of a volcanic rock called basalt which flowed out of the earths crust some 50-60 million years ago. When it cooled and solidified the chemical elements in the basalt formed approximately some 40,000 geometric, mostly hexagonal, shapes.

Hi Stephen.
Amazed with the basalt columns every time you posted them, they look taken out of a sci-fi film. You have very nice photos of this subject, but this one is extremely descriptive showing very well the general look of this formations. As always makes me want to visit :)
Best regards, MF.

Hello Stephen,
A very interesting aerial POV on the Giant's Causeway! Looking at the thumbnail I had no idea what it is :-)
Very nice contribution...
Best greetings and TFS,
Michal

Wow. the thumbnail did it no justice at all, but that scale is stunning. I had not idea about the extent of the area. Some of these places are hyped up so much like the size of the standing stones at the Burren...

I feel like picture is missing a touch of sharpness though which is not your usual high level, but you have shown me somethign new as well...

Hi Steve

This is truely a magnificent photo!
It's a great POV that shows these unique rocks and their shapes. The 3D effect created here is outstanding and the inclusion of the people was a great idea for an impression over the size.
Nature's geometry...indeed brilliant!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Steve,
This is certainly a different POV of a famous sight. It gives a very good idea of the size of the causeway, especially with the two humans present. The informative level of this photo together with the note is very high. I do agree with Emma on the sharpness.
TFS,
Niek
