Giants Causeway

On a stormy night on the 26th of October 1588, the Girona, a Spanish Army Galleon, was wrecked against the jagged cliffs of basalt here at Lacada Point (Northern coast of Ireland). The Girona was the biggest ship in the Armada and only five men out of the 1,300 aboard her survived. The handful of survivors convalesced at nearby Dunluce Castle whilsts the castle's owners, the MacDonnells, also helped themselves to much of the ships booty.

Hi Stephen.
A very good Landscape shot. great compostion and POV.great colour. the waves help to make the picture. TFs. well done.
Nick.

Hello Stephen,
Excellent POV, looking down onto the rough sea and rocks. Interesting note too, thank you for that.
Cheers,
Debbie

What a unique rock formation. It is an interesting point of view, looking down on it. Five of 1300 are not good odds! The thought of sailing "blind" in those days, without sonar, radar and lighthouses, is a scary proposition. One would have to really love the sea, or be pretty hungry.

Thanks for sharing yet another special place with us.

Evelynn : )

very nice one Stephen,
fantastic pov, good balance in the shot, maybe a little more contrast can made the shot better, but thats personal, good photojob, have a nice day.

Hi Stephen, the coast up there is magnificent and this view is no exception. Great POV of the rock structures, good light, colour and sharpness. Excellent note!

Hi Steve

Another fantastic shot from and this splendid northern Ireland coast :)
This high POV here really gave you a magnificent perspective and you took advange of it in the best way!
The view is impressive and it also has that "Free fallin'" effect, too :))
Lovely colors and exposure and splendid composition.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Steve,
I like the top-down view on the cliff. It looses some of the depth of the photo, but it does give it a very interesting view. The formation of the rock is really interesting, it alomst looks like some leftover of a stairs.
I think I've seen the story about this boat on the BBC program coast.
TFS,
Niek
