What a stunning capture! I'm a rainbow person myself and this is by far one of the best I've ever seen. The wide openess of the land, the contrast of light and dark, and the clarity is amazing. I'm reminded of a line in a song: from sea to shining sea.
Nicely done!

Spectacular shot Steve!
The rainbow and sky is so awesome that the inclusion of buildings and walls don't seem to matter.
Actually, they probably help make the pic, truth be told, even though they're not a natural feature.
Another great landscape from you.
Keep em' comin'.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Stephen,
This is an awesome shot. Is this an HDR composition? If it is, how many shots are merged here? Great light and tonal range. Your composition is superb. Great camera work!

Hi Stephen,
I've never seen such a complete shape of rainbow. You are so lucky to meet the scene, and that I was surprised at your technique, good composition, superb contrast, colour of the sea, clouds and sunny spot. Fantastic!

Hi Steve and an early welcome back!
Fisrt of all, this is a SPSLENDID dedication for Emma, a gesture and a photo that she will definitely appreciate a lot.
Secound, it's great to hear you'll be back soon and that your website is nearly done...can't wait to see it!
Thirdly, no sh*t this is your favorite one of them all...it's a simply magnificent view of this perfect and complete rainbow.
I really love how everything here is composed, the exceptional contrast between the rainbow and the dark clouds and the vibrant colors everywhere in the frame.
Now i do have to ask this...i'm way too curious: this is a stitch, right?
Anyway, my hat's off to you, my friend, for such an impressive result, and i do have to thank you too for the terrific link for the explanation for the phenomenon...i'm a bit of a physics fan :)
Take care and TFS

Hi Steve,
Good to see a post from you again. I hope all is well and I am looking forward to seeing your own website. Do give me the URL once it is ready.
This is a very beautiful photo and dedication to a lady close to me heart. I do hope that it will help her in any kind of way. This is also a very beautiful photo for its pefect rainbow and for the magnificent view. The sheer quality and details in this photo are very impressive. I love the combination of dark and light in this photo created by the dark sky and the patch of sunlight. Is it just me, or are you always in the right position and the right moment?
TFS,
Niek
P.S. thanks for the link, that was very intersting to read.

Brilliant shot Stephen, welcome back, great to see your work again.
The contrast and vivid colours really make this shot, as does the centralised composition. Did you know that the sun is always positioned exact opposite spot from the virtual "centre" of rainbow arcs? So lower the sun, the bigger the arc...

Doug

Hi, Stephen,
It is fantastic photo! Both rainbows so clear and wonderful light below. I wonder, if you have ever seen something I saw last week in Warsaw. Unfortunately, I was just coming home by bus so without camera and I have it only in my mind. So, both rainbows were clearly seen but one of them (now I can't remember which, it seems that this secondary one, but it is improbable) was like made of two or even three of them. It means, just after red was yellow again, and red, and yellow. Such a pity I had no camera!
The area under the rainbow is lighter because the light of different colours is mixed giving white. The area between rainbows is darker then the rest. It is so called Alexander belt, after Alexander of Afrodisia who first observed this phenomenon.
Good work, regards
Malgorzata

Hi Stephen.
What a stunning rainbow that is and dedicated to me. I'm honoured. The rainbows are the one thing I remember the most about Ireland in general. I saw so many of them when we were there.
thank you for such a wonderful dedication.

very beautiful photo! It is lighter under the rainbow cause of the diffraction (or refraction, my english are not good...)
