[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Carrickfergus stands on the north shore of Belfast Lough and is home to the 12th century Carrickfergus Castle, one of the best-preserved Norman castles in Ireland. Took this last wednesday with the sun beaming through the clouds and fog that was making its way inland. It was the only shot I really got that morning as the fog obscured everything within minites..

Hi Stephen,
This is a very good composition with this tree trunk pointing to the sun! This is an original picture with strange mood; it looks surrealistic. Well seen!

On vacation Steve,
Back ASAP,
Howard

I'm just going to agree with everything Claudine said. I don't think it can be said any better. This is a wonderful shot. Well done.

Hi Stephen!

This is a very well composed picture for a very classical subject. I like the trunk in the foreground very much, it leads the spectators eye into the picture. The lighting and the depth of field are good, too. It would be interesting to know the exposure settings and the amount of postprocessing.

Kind regards

Markus

Stunning!
Great colours.
Nice composition, very relaxing
Well done!

Hi Stephen,
you captured a fantastic landscape! The reflection of sun is beautiful. Will call it golden gate in Hungarian, I don't know if this phrase is used for it in English, but your shot shows very well where it comes from!
The foreground interest is very fine too, it is well shown that it was under water before.
TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Steve

What a splendid moody shot from you again, my friend!
I really like what you were able to do here with a spot-on exposure setting and some great filters - the fine graduation in the temperature of the colors is outstanding - colder in the FG going towards the hot in the BG.
The composition is also terrific - with the lovely positioning of the sun, the log in the FG that adds depth and leads the eye towards the horizon and all those shattered rocks silhouettes in the water just breaking the uniform reflections.
Splendid work!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely STUNNING!!
Did you enter this one in to the DC POTY?
That sun is incredinble!
Fantastic use of the log as a lead-in line that draws the eye straight to the sun.
Incredible colours and perfect exposure.
Very crisp and sharp.
Just perfect.
Straight into my favourites.
Cheers Stephen,

Joe

Hi Stephen,
superb use of those rocks receding away into the background here for huge depth and the way you aligned the log so that it's pointing to the sun - magic. Congratulations on the award too by the way, well deserved.
Paul

Breathtaking!! Good job!
