Locals call them Quark, after the noise they make.

A medium-sized, stocky, rather short-necked heron with black crown and back, gray wings, and white underparts. Bill short and black, legs pinkish or yellowish.

The Black crowned night Heron breeds singly or in small groups in a variety of coastal habitats, the subspecies Nycticorax nycticorax falklandicus being restricted to the Falklands. Black-crowned Night Herons remain around the Falklands throughout the year, feeding on small fish and invertebrates in tidal rock pools and small streams. Young birds are brown with buff streaks, and do not attain full adult plumage until 4 years of age.

Wow, The Falkland Islands must be quite an amazing place to visit.So much off the busy track and with amazing views and wildlife.Seems like this fella is about to plunge after a tasty fish.Nicely composed with its perch but it seems like it was a rather gloomy day.Take care and TFS.
