[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Flightless Steamer Duck is by far the most numerous of the Falklands marine ducks.. that's what they say I only saw this pair and unfortunat I did not get as close as I hoped for. Each pair holds a territory comprising of a set length of coastline which it guards vigorously. The name comes from it rapid movement across the water using its wings in a circular paddling motion. The flightless steamer duck can't fly.

Hi Sky,
Excellent shot of this flightless steamer ducks. Nice subdued colours and sharpness. I like the ripples in the water working as a backdrop. Very nicely composed and an educative note. Kudos.

This is a very interesting capture Sky as I didn't know that some ducks couldn’t fly! This is a nice pair that you photograph nicely well if they were far and that this weather seemed a little dull :) Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Sky,
Another fine capture of a species of duck new to me, the flightless Steamer Duck. The Falklands must be interesting for the ornithologist.
Though this shot is understandably a little noisy owing to the distance, it is a good shot showing the pair and nice action as the swim across the picture, together with nice lighting on the water.
TFS and have a good week!
Ivan
