Ya Kwanza is the name of this Western Lowland Gorilla he is located in Jersey Zoo at present. They origanate from Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Cabinda (enclave of Angola) and the extreme western tip of Zaire.
Although gorillas have been kept in captivity for over 100 years, the first was not born until 1956. Since then a better understanding of their needs has led gorillas to live longer and breed more often thanks to improved diets, better mental and physical stimulation and the formation of stable social groups.
Durrell has kept western lowland gorillas since 1959 - the year it opened. The first to arrive was 2-year-old female ‘N’pongo’, who died in 1999 at the grand old age of 42.
To date, 15 valuable babies have been born here; most are now at other zoos and continue to make a valuable contribution to the breeding programme for their highly endangered species.
Apart from adding the frame to improve the look of this wonderful creature (if thats possible) nothing else has been done.

Hi Richard, you seem to have captured this guy's character pretty well. The TOUGH look speaks volumes about him.
Good work,
Warm regards, Kiran
Hi Richard,
The exposure and detail in this shot is very impressive. An eyecatching shot that holds the viewers attention. Well done!
Very powerfull photo!!! Fantastic!
The only thing that could make it better would be the "not-in-the-center" composition when you were cropping
