[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ptarmigan (Lagopus mutus) met around the Lochnagar Massif, Southern Cairngorms.

The bird wasn't easy to spot. As you can see, its summer plumage perfectly fits to the environment.

Hi Damien,

very well spotted, you did well to find this elusive bird amongst the heather and rocks. I think they are generally only found at the higher altitudes? It's nice to sometimes see animals in a natural setting like this, as you would nortmally see only a fleeting glimpse of them.
Thanks also for the tip on the Lochnagar/Loch Muick area to explore too...
