Cool owl portrait, Bryan!
I think you missed some details on white area (middle & right side) the eye are totally black (like no life there) which takes a lot from your wonderful model. Try to use flash next time ISO-100 and experiment with different F/stop and you will get better result. Sometimes photoshop can help a lot too, like removing the noise from BG...
