The Lean-some Pine
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This gorgeous Caledonian Pine grows on the beautiful shores of Loch (Lake) Morlich, in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland, Great Britain. This area, known as Glenmore Forest, is part of the ancient Forest of Caledon, itself a part of the Boreal Forest, which sweeps across the Northern Hemisphere. These trees normally grow straight upwards, why this one has leaned, I do not know; possibly the relentless winds here, and they are identifiable by their beautifully textured, cinnamon-coloured bark.
Some grow with a single main trunk, like the one in the background on the left. Others, like the one mid-right of the picture, grow with multiple boughs from a low level. I have harvested a seed from that one, and a small tree is being nurtured in my garden.
This is the most beautiful place in the world.......... |
