Fringilla Coelebs-Chaffinch.

One of Europes most abundent birds, the Chaffinch is a social bird. They are quite tame, coming for food in gardens and picnic sites.

They are keen insect eaters, mostly caterpillars from foraging, but they are very happy to visit feeders, such as this one, who's waiting his turn.
He's sitting on my fence next to the feeder, filled with Niger seeds.

As before, my 'hide' is our old caravan, with the curtains pulled across and my lens lent on an old cushion for support.
Yesterday's shot of the Greenfinch was a little soft, a problem with wide aperture, my point of focus was slightly off.
This one is a little better. I'm not too keen on using sharpening tools as it always looks as if you've used a sharpening tool.

Superb shot of the Chaffinch, nicely composed with a great POV and lovely pose, good detail and excellent colours with a superb BG, love the eye contact too.

Hi Gary,

I've never seen a Chaffinch in the flesh - this is a beautiful one. His pose is wonderful. What or who was he looking at? Beautiful colors and wonderful details against a fine bg.

Great capture! The chaffinch shows up so clearly and the colours are true. He certainly has a glint in his eye! Lovely detail! I am beginning to have similar feelings about sharpening tools!
