[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

This is a very fresh photo of mine - taken just two days ago. I was so desperated to go for some photo shooting that after some promising weather forecast I decided to take one day off and venture out to the Highlands.

I couldn't be more happy about what I've encountered there. The weather was nothing but amazing. Lots of sunny spells and dramatic sky - this is when I feel like I'm alive. I must say is was my first time to see all those mountains covered completely with snow - it was just amazing, really cold but visibility was excellent.

As the Rannoch area seems to be heavily explored by all kind of photo enthusiasts I decided to look for some unusual spot. I went much further into the moor, leaving noisy A82 far behind me and eventually found this place. I loved it from the very first time.

I set up my tripod and waited for the proper light and sky formation :)

Some technical info :
As I wanted to have a really big file from this scene I decided to take a couple of shots and stitch them together as one (panorama). I took 4 vertical shots (each one of them was bracketed with 1.66 EV to cover the whole tonal range) - so 12 shots altogether. Post-processing was basically a matter of proper stitching plus blending - but trust me, it's not so complicated as it sounds :) There was also CPL in action to cut off some reflecions on the left side of the photo.

Hello Piotr

So these are actually 12 shots?!? WOW! Now that's a big coverage :)
The view is indeed amazing and the scenary is truely beautiful and typical for a splendid winter day.
The colors and lights are came out fantasticly and the expsure is simply PERFECTLY managed. All that braketing really came in handy.
Now i'm very new to this segment of photography, so i'm just going to ask this to understand it correctly: you had 3 sets of all the 4 photos with different exposures and then you blended them together for this amazing look, right? What software did you use?
Anyway, the composition it resulted in is stunning and the DOF here is excellent, giving you super sharp details throughout the entire scene.

Very impressive, a stitch of 12 photos. What program did you use?

I can imagine you loved this spot the first time you saw it. It really has a serene feel to it. I think I need to see this is a really large version to experience the real beauty of it. Not that this version isn't stunning, I just want to see the details even better. Really grerat work on the exposure, keeping the snow virgin white and still get excellent details in the shaded areas.

What a beautiful picture. I was up a mountain on the far side of Loch Rannoch that day and after lunch my camera never came out of my rucksac after total white out conditions... The Thursday and Friday were better for us.

Anyhow the picture. Stunning. I shall have to look more closely at this program of yours becuase when I was up on my February visit, I took a number of shots at different exposures to look at HDR...

The whites are spot on, the composition excellent and the light as always stunning.
