[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just a very quick post tonight - not much time - sorry.
Taken at Christmas, I though the picture shows the beauty of a fine winter's day, in the mountains.

Wasn't sure on the cropping though...

Converted from RAW, cropped, resized and sharpened, and bordered.

The picture was taken from the Bridge of Orchy Hills looking out over Rannoch Moor towards the Ski lift. The main mountain peaks are Clach Leathad (1098) and Meall a'Bhuiridh (1108) in the centre.

Edit - Rannoch Moor... In answer to a question - why are there no trees in the photo? Answer - The ground is now a massive peat bog and too waterlogged and too acidic for most trees to be able to survive. What you are looking at there is a very very deep peat bog, where the road and railway track actually float across the surface and drift up to 3inches a year... The road also has a rather undulating surface because of this.

Trees survive in the odd place here and there, but because of the gales and harshness of the environment, don't last long at all.

Hi Emma!
Amazing place - looks like paradise and you made this photo really perfect.
Thank you for sharing.

Very nice panorama. I've wondered about the lack of trees in parts of Scotland. I've heard that in the English Lake District the once forested hills and mountains were stripped of their trees long ago...obviously not to return. Why are there so few trees in your area?

Hi Emma,
This is a classic Scottish Highlands - like scenery. I'm glad that you choosed to post it in panoramic, because this generous landscape deserves a large post.

Regards, Petru

This is an excellent panorama Emma, very nice!
It looks like the time of day was very good, with great light. The colors are well saturated. I like the composition, with the frame divided by shadow, foreground.
Very well done.
