Hi Gary,

This wolf could be the poster child for the organizations fighting for the re-introduction. His eyes are so sad. Nice portrait with lovely colors and details.

Hello Gary,
I have seen in the news here, a farmer that has killed 12 coyotes because they were too close from his farm... I never imagined that such thing was still permitted here. I called the fauna minister and they told me that there was no quota and that the hunting of Coyotes was permitted... They were such magnificent beasts and we saw them dead in the news... My hearth just stopped for a second...

This is a great capture of this superb animal. I love this composition, POV, natural exposure and beautiful details and expression from the animal. Well done with great notes. Thanks,

I argue with people all the time about this very thing. For some reason, humans believe that the whole planet is here for their pleasure and convenience. Thank you for not just taking a photo but making a statement.

He does indeed look healthy with a nice coat. They have reintroduced wolves into our Yellowstone Park and by all reports they seem to be doing well though a good number of pups are lost to distemper and parvovirus. I really wanted to see some wolves on our recent trip to Yellowstone but alas we were also a few minutes late or left a few minutes early. We knew where the recent kills were and tried to monitor them. The photos I've seen of the Yellowstone wolves don't show them to be nearly as robust as this fellow.

This is a nice image with that impressive lens. It does seem a bit dark on my Mac monitor though.

Wonderful portrait of this Wolf - concerned, unsure and melancholic look says a huge story. Probably TNers are doing a great service by bringing these stories to the fore and drawing attention of the organisations working in various fields. Truely a pat on your back to bring this up to notice.

Thi is anexcellent portrait ! A bit unusual, with this strange (and sad) look, but very beautiful. Sharpness, details, colors, composition, POV and BG are excellent. Very well done!

A for the re-introduction subject, I really wish that someday I will see them in our French forests - most farmers are against, but I think in Spain they already re-introduced them, without any problems. I believe that most people do not want the wolves back, in my country, so they try to find excuses. So sad...

Great capture of the soulful look in his eyes...Wolves are fairly rare here(not Galveston but on the mainland) but occasionally they are spotted although usually solo...Fantastic natural color...Excellent POV...TFS

A lovely POV - the eye conract is really good. The BG really helps the shot a lot.


I am pretty sure the last wolves were killed in the C18th. I am pro re-introduction - and my mother's family are all farmers and would kill me!

Unlike Evelyn, I was lucky enough to see the wolves in Yellowstone - but photograhically they were dots - bit it was still a real thrill!

Wolves are exciting animals. I had for some time a wolf hybrid dog, mixed with Siberian Husky. He was strong and loving. My thoughts were to make a sled, but gravities pull on my body shattered those dreams and we left our dog with a rescue team. We see him in every photo such as this. Tuey was his name. I am pro, or for the reintroduction of this creature into it's native habitat.

I like wolves, Gary. They so much remind me of domesticated dogs. Moreover, there is a whole lot of cultural spin-off around this animal in creative arts, and it would be a pity to see this animal hunted down to extinction again in your country if its propagation were to be resumed again.
The picture is beautiful. I like the expression in the dog's . . .ooops . . . the wolf's eyes. It is kind of gentle and trusting.

I've been following the argument for the reintroduction of Wolves into Scotland for quite a while, and still can't make up my mind. Part of me agrees with you that they would be persecuted for doing what comes naturally, and that maybe there's just not enough room anymore. On the other hand, they could help keep Deer numbers down and add an extra bit of magic to the Highland, whose landscape is crying out for some sort of large predator of some sort.
Anyway, a great portrait with an interesting expression on his face, although it is easy to personify animals i guess. Nice details and colours too

I think you are probably right in that the Wolves would be hunted to extinction again if they were released back into the wild, it is unfortunate. It is a pity that many of the old farmers get stuck in their ways. Anyway, this is a superb image of this glorious looking animal, even if it is in captivity. Lovely colours, detail and expression you have captured.

Hello Gary,
this wonderful wolf has the same expression that had my Siberian Husky when he looked aside. In Italy it is not long time ago that the Marsicano Wolf was reintroducted in the Park of Abruzzo, and I hope that it will be successful; mountaineers are not so happy, they fear that wolves could attack their animals. I understand such trouble but wolves must be there!

Hi Gary,
I am not a big fan of zoos as well. But did visit two of them last winter. I still don't like them, but do find their reprodution programs and the educational programs.

The photo is of a wonderful moment with a great expression on the face of the wolf. It really seems to be in perfect condition. The sharpness and composition are perfect. It does look a tad dark, but that might be my monitor at work.

I do hope that wolves will return to Scotland, since it will also help the balance of nature. Maybe they can start a program in a national park.
