Rocky coves and pink sand characterise Gruinard Bay, one of Scotland's loveliest beaches. It lies in the Wester Ross area and can be reached via the A832 and Little Loch Broom. From Gruinard Bay there are wonderful views across island-studded waters to the Coigach Hills.

The area is very interesting from a geological viewpoint and many unusual stones can be found in the area. The Road along the bay's western shore passes a ruined chapel built where St Columba supposedly founded a church. Bay best viewed from top the top of Gruinard Hill.

Hi Stephen,
Wow, impressive image! I love the view, the colours in the water, the cloud formations, the bare hills in the background. Great composition and POV and DOF. Excellent sharpness and details, truly stunning! Well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Hello Stephen,
Beautiful land/seascape image.
The way the water of the bay and the line of the stony beach is leading the eye on to the hills and wonderful clouded sky is great.
Light and colors are lovely.
Thanks for sharing.
Kindest regards, Harry

Hello Stephen,
I really like all the different patterns, colours and shades in this photo. The water is very interesting with the parallel lines caused by the sand but the colours are nice.
Good photo,
regards
Matt.

Beautiful, lovely capture with several contributing elemets (land, sky and water) making the photo outstanding.

What a superb view Stephen. I like the different layers of colour on the shoreline; the rolling hills; and the lovely cloud formations. There is certainly a lot to look at in this image that is of very good quality.

amazing landscape an photo

What a wonderful photo of Gruinard Bay. I see a little blue sky there... Hoping for some myself when I leave for Scotland tomorrow morning (Meeting up with Niek on Sunday). You have those wonderful greens in this picture which are so often in your photos... It adds that something to them.

It is a very long time since I was last there (swimming and playing in the waters despite my mother trying her hardest to stop me). Gruinard Island was the site of the Anthrax testing (1942) and was still off limits until 2002. (see also here.

There are also some very beautiful mountains and coastal walks along that area as well.

Hi Steve,
Beautiful colors and very well contrasted..Crisp detail, great sky. I notice the curved shoals of sand under the water that seem to compliment the gentle contours of the shore...Great sense of depth and it beckons, it has pulled me in. I'm making my way down to the beach, adventure ahead..Must I return to reality? ;)
Very well done.

Hi Stephen,
looks like you actually had some blue sky up there, which is more than can be said for me.
Nice composition and saturated colours, the CP worked well in bringing out the sandy sea bed. The lines of the tide line on the rocky part of the beach provides some nice shapes too.

Beautiful landscape with amazing colors!

Hi Steve,
If you had mentioned that you took this on a sub-tropical island, I would have believed you as well. The color of the sea and the clarity of it, just makes it look that way. A wonderful composition again, where the shore line and the gentle waves take the eye on a journey into the scenery.
It looks like you had some hars light to work with.
TFS,
Niek
