Hi Niek
A nicely composed landscape with water, rocks, meadow and mountains. It's all comes together rather nicely. You taken this from an interesting spot on the river, it looks like your standing on an island.

Hi Niek!
First I would like to tell you that I like your picture very much! It's a wonderful nature and a lovely landscape.
It's impressive to have a picture like yours with a very close foreground and full sharpness. Your exposure data help to explain this. I also have read your elaborated and explaining notes, although I don't know the technique you mention with the three levels. Guess I don't understand everything, especially not what the advantage of this proceeding is. I will certainly try it out to learn more!
Looking at your picture, one quickly realizes that you have a good command of setting the composition: the lines of the stones in the foreground point in the same direction as the creek and the clouds and one has the feeling to be attracted to the horizon. Everything flows together in the line formed by the mountains.
As far as the lighting is concerned, some parts of the clouds are very close to 255.
Kind regards
Markus

It looks as though all has been placed for you. An exceptional shot with all angles drawing me in.

No need to check which lens you used here. The foreground is wonderful. I'm not as fond of the sky. With all the corrective measures you took I am surprised that there is still some burnout. When you do tone mapping, does the program do it automatically? It seems that whenever I see a photo on which it was used, the sky/clouds is the area that is the most troublesome. It seems to me that the contrast is too great. This is just a feeling I have. There is just something about the clouds that feels a bit unnatural. It is not just your image; I see it also in others that have used tone mapping. I have been the most successful when I shoot images exposing just for the sky and just for the midtones and just for the darker areas and doing the combining manually.... then again, I don't know how to use Photomatix...even though I've downloaded the trial version. I'm a reluctant learner it seems. I stick with what I know far longer than I should sometimes. The color and sharpness in the whole of the terrestrial part is super.

Hi Niek,
A sharp portrait of what is a grand and wild landscape, both of which you can feel in this shot. Great atmosphere too, with alot of depth...i am intrigued by tone mapping!

Excellent landscape image again at wich it is a great joy to look at.
Perfect depth with the stones leading the eye in to the wonderful scene wich ends at the soft moody background with the lines of the mountains and dramatic clouded sky.
Very well seen and excecuted.

Greetings Niek.
Another lovely Highland landscape. Great composition. I love those rocks and the grass in the f.g. and that one lone tree. I'm heading to the U.K next month and hope to get to Scotland too. Looking at your pics makes me think I will. Well done.
Best regards, Steve.

Hi Niek,
I am home and trying to get over the jet lag!
Impressive landscape here!
I like the way both the rocks in the water and the clouds in the sky help to channel our vision to converge on the mountain.
The sharpness in the foreground is excellent.

Beautifully composed Niek! The photo seems to be leaning a bit to the left, but otherwise you got some great components within this composition.

Hello Niek,
This is a very beautiful composition! I expect you couldn't avoid the dark clouds in the UK this summer! Even so it's a fine shot with those stones in the foreground leading into the distant mountains. I like the movement of the water too and the colours are beautiful.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Niek
we had crossed over the boundary at this point into the Highlands... I'll email you a cirlce around the area we were in... We were at Lochan na Stainge at this point. were we climbed down the side of the bridge atfer crossing over it... Later on we went and got a lot closer to that tree...
Still that vantage point of your where you set up the tripod was an excellent one. I really like the foreground rocks and the tree adds that little something extra. Nicely done.

Hello Niek,
Lovely foregrounf interest with the rocks and a couple of tiny mountain wildflowers!
Nice view to the summit in the back, and that lonely tree in a distance is a nice touch...
A dramatic sky, but with some hope of blue!
Greetings,
Pablo -
