Pictures like this give me goosebumps. I love vivid landscapes, although my own tendency is to make art of them, I still appreciate much the true form. Also, your Canon and lens are very good. I am stuck with Nikon for many decades so I thought if I couldn't afford a Leica or Hassel, then I would just status quo. You show off your camera well.

I am sorry to hear of you illness. I am 100 percent with you on this, as I too have now physical AND some bio-mental problems which are keeping me in one spot....but I still carry on the challenge that every day will get slowly better and if not , then it wasn't the way...the path... Your path dictates that now you show your works of a while back. Mine does too. Nothing to belittle no be ashamed of. If you still have these in your data, then you were rightly proud of them. Keep on doing what you do best and in lieu of that, keep on posting your oldies but goodies. I love them.

Yeah! You must be feeling a touch better today... at least I hope so. This image feels more sunny and cheerful. You've been holding on to this beauty since February!? It's wonderful. The bit of snow and ice add so much to the scene you captured. There is great saturated color, super sharpness and depth of focus, perfect exposure. I love the peaceful composition. Can't ask for much more. Nice work.

thanks, just what i DIDN'T want to see first thing on Monday morning, trapped in the office ;o)
However, it does remind me that these places are still out there and it's only a matter of time before i'm back out in them!
It's all been said about this image already, but i think it's strongest element for me is the composition. Superb job.
Fingers crossed you'll be well enough for the winter season. I'll be having my first winter outing onto full on snow and ice this year in Glen Coe, finally!

Hi Emma,
I think I saw this one while sitting in the back of your car on a small screen. Even than it looked awesome. But this version and actually the LP version does make it even better. It is so great to see the difference between the summer colors and winter colors. Somehow the winter landscape looks more beautiful. Love the reflection of the mountain and how it has been cut by the water and ice. The clarity is just awesome.

Emma-

One of the things I enjoy most about TN is going randomly through some thread of favorites/locations/people/etc. and finding pictures like this. Most comments are offered soon after the picture is posted, but this image obviously deserves one many months later.

The most striking aspect of this is the reflection of the peaks, which you have captured beautifully. It appears that it is from ice rather than water, but at this resolution, it's hard to be sure. It would be odd for an unfrozen surface to give such a clear reflection, then have such a sharp break to the rougher portion of the lake. I would guess from this clarity and from the subtle topography of the nearer surface that you had ice already formed, then there was enough wind to push a thin layer of water from the open loch onto the old ice and freeze it smooth and free of bubbles. It is rare otherwise to get the optical quality of reflection that you have here.

A wonderful shot, no matter what the details of the ice. Hope that your previously mentioned health problems are behind you.
