"Elgol Dawn"

The range of hills known as the Cuillin rises from the sea on the far side of Loch Scavaig, 4 to 5 miles from Elgol. I wanted to show the beautiful coloured stones just under the water so I waited till the surf just hit the far rock before disturbing calm water in the foreground. Due to the heavy tides at Elgol, there are a number of rock formations that only appear at certain times.

Amazing picture with wonderful light nd color, very good composition and detail

Bonjour Stephen
Magnifique composition, excellente gestion de l'exposition, félicitations

This one appears quite realistic to my experience; moreso than your last post... so appeals to me even more. I like the colors in the water and rocks and the wonderful depth of field from foreground rocks to distant peaks. The clouds are great too.

Hi Stephen

Indeed much better than the original version. I like what the wider angle has to offer here.
The sharpness in the FG is impressive while the effect of the long shutter speed contrasts well with the textures of the rocks.
Also, splendid perspective towards the horizon and a magnificent sky to balance everything and give a uniform visual pleasure for the viewer.
Brilliant work!

Wonderfull DOF and composition Stephen. Great sharpness of the structures and excellent use of light. Congratulation.TFS

Another beautiful shot Steve.
I see from the horizontal layers that the rock here is limestone.
Did you see any caves nearby.
I would expect there to be a few.
Excellent work as usual.
Cheers
Steve

Hello Stephen,
I love the depth in your photos, this one we can see so much from under the water to the peaks in the distance. The misty churning water, the contrasting rocks , the pov is perfect and the spot looks so unsettled and rugged, like your in another time. Beautiful photo,
TFS

Hi Steve,
Its difficult to decide which photo I like more. I think I just settle that I like both of them. In this one I like the larger FG and how this part contrast with the dark sky and hills. The slow shutter speed and the early light does create a wonderful dreamy effect.
The colors in the rock above and below the surface are very beautiful.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Stephen, this one looks more dramatic - super colours, and I do prefer this version. Really good effects in the water and sky.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
You must think you're not on vacation anymore ;}
I really think all that excellent cruise dining has affected your cognitive ability..Why whould you repost an already outstanding image for TN?
Have you lost your marbles entirely?? ;}}
Ok, it's an improved image, I grant you that....
With a grain of salt,
Howard

Wow!
Just awesome Stephen.
I love the colors and depth of this image.
Wonderful long focused DOF.
Nicely composed
