[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On holiday in the Highlands of Scotland I spent an evening in a hide where Pine Martins appear fairly regularly to see if there is anything on the feeding table. It was a poor night with very high winds and a full moon. The local I was with was not hopeful but as things turned out we did see three at different times during the evening. This one is on the table which is lit by tungsten bulbs fixed to the hide with dimmer switches.
I hand held the camera as there were several people in the hide and a tripod would have been a problem. The lens was held against the glass window so the camera did not pick up the reflection or the dust.
I have cropped the photo, enhanced the colour a little and used some unmask sharp. Under the circumstances I am pleased with the result. A trip to the same hide later in the week produced nothing as the Martins did not appear.
Camera Settings. ISO 1600, White Balance - Tungsten, 140mm focal length, AV, Pattern metering, Auto exposure.

Hello Peter,
great to see a post from you!
This is a very nice shot of this Pine Martin.
I can't work out how you could have kept your hand so still for a four second exposure, and keep the photo so sharp!
+++ Very good POV and a classic pose. Well composed aswell.
As I said before... very sharp with a great load of detail in the fur.
Nice colours aswell.
--- Nothing :)

The coat of the animal looks like mink, so brilliant et soft. This picture is sharp and clear, never heard of that animal in my life. Congratulation for your great patience. TFS!

Hi Peter, a beautiful image of this very handsome and delightful Pine Martin. Lovely pose which couldn't be better. Very well focused with good exposure and detail on sharpness on the coat is outstanding. Beautiful composition and the dark background sets it off wonderfully. Sounds like a great holdiay.
