Wonderful portrait, Niek. birds of prey are about the eyes and you've captured this bird's eyes perfectly. Great details with nice subtle light. I like the diagonal aspect of the compo, too.

What a splendid portrait of this charming little owl.
I've always admired these creatures for the level of adaptation that they have reached and the special characteristics of their anathomy that enable them to be such succesfull nocturnal predators. Some of those features are so nicely presented here and make this photo also a very educational one.
I really love those big eyes and the great eye-contact you managed to get here - adding a lot to the attractiveness of the shot.
The tones are also terrific and complement eachother well, while the sharpness is, as usual, at the highest level.
