[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Out of the 3 posted so far, this one is probably my favourite. That said, I have now just jinxed the photo...

Info.
This photo is of Loch Rannoch and a rather cloudy start to the day. Cloud not mist! I wanted to show that even on the most unlikely of days...

It was one of those mornings when you sat there thinking what on earth is there to photo - why even bother getting the camera out. And then came a slight gap in the clouds. On the standard lens, it wasn't worth getting the camera out (see workshop), but on the bigger lens, on full zoom, zooming in on the only patch of anything other than cloud, a much better scene was spotted (even if everyone else didn't see it and could not for the life of them work out what it was I was photoing).

Taken using a tripod, timer and mirror lock up, to try to prevent blurring other than by cloud... I had managed to damage both my UV(0) and Skylight filters at this point, so no filters used...

Here's hoping you like it as well.

As before, the contrast has been increased quite a bit becuase of the low cloud. Apart from that it is unaltered, other than conversion from RAW, and the usual TN bits - cropped, resized, USM and border.

Hi Emma, great misty shot with good atmosphere. TFS.
Dean.

Hi Emma,
It's jinxed alright ;)
Interesting landscape shot, with the scene so heavily shrouded in cloud..It looks like you had a good vantage point to take this one.
Unique capture,
Well done.

Hi Emma,
I agree, this is the best out of the three. This one shows just a little more detail in the non clouded parts, but still has enough clouds to keep the great atmosphere.
TFS,
Niek
btw, what's the advantage of the mirror lock? Still need to figure it out when I can best use it.

Impressive landscape.
Good picture,

Andrea

The famouse scottish fog and low clouds! It gave a sensation of infinity and of unknown, nice work!
Bye Tom

HIiEmma,

I'm not sure which I like best. I liked having more water in the foreground too. Thanks for info on mirror lock up.

Evelynn : )

Yes, lovely atmospheric shot... I love this one.

Hi,
I think this is the best out of the 3 too. Nice and peaceful. One little personal quibble - I find signatures within the image distracting from the image itself.
Cheers,
John
