An early morning scramble to the top of Ben A'an, it's a good 45 min hike with big bag of camera equipment and tripod. Once up and alone the views across Loch Achray and Loch Venachar are superb.

On this morning the whole landscape was blanketed in a thick shroud of mist. As the sun rose the mist began to move and disperse gradually revealing the features of trees and landscape that were previously hidden.

I really enjoyed watching the mist fade and the firs emerge into visability. With the sun punching shafts of light through the mist the colour and scene had a dream like quality which is what I tried to capture here.

I do believe these firs to be Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) but I'm happy to be corrected if I am mistaken.

I hope you like it.

The "state" should be Stirling but it's not on the list.

I've given up using points so feel free to comment, critique, leave points or don't leave points - it's completely up to you!

Hi Paul,
now I know why some people say; "playing with the light"
Simply beautifull
Jacob

The light in this photo is just beautiful!
I love the brown tones. Very aesthetic picture.
Regards, Krzysztof.

Hi Paul,
Great to see something from you again. I always admire you creative eye for landscapes. The long shades created by the low sun really adds drama to the foggy atmosphere. The faded silhouttes of the trees in the back are really beautiful.
TFS,
Niek

Very nice, quiet peaceful scene. Excellent exposure and composition. Is the color natural or added?

Hi Paul.
I am admired by your delicate and elegant picture executed in light-brown key. Interchanges of lights and shadows are expressive and very pleasant to eye. Softness and simultaneously details are perfect. Really poetical and skilful shot. Bravo and my best regards,
Alexei.

Hi Paul,
Fantastic work - wonderful atmospheric image, beautifully captured and composed. The combination of the low sun and the fading mists have given this a very surreal dream-like feeling.

Brilliant.

Hi Paul and nice to see another picture from you ;)
As Steve said, indeed a "refreshingly different" one :)
The composition here is wonderful with two separate diagonal lines (one from the right lower corner to the middle of the left side and the other one from abut the middle left to almost the right upper corner)...at least that's the way i see it and i really like it :)
Also lovely colors and light, with excellent exposure management.
Hope we'll get to see other pictures you've taken in lovey Scotland :)

Cheers and TFS
Horia

Cette prise est magique,la tois dimensions causé par les arbre,la brume et le magnifique éclairage en font une très belle composition.

Merci pour l'envoie Paul!
Joseph

This is stunning. The almost sepia look works so well here (although from reading the reply it is 'natural').
Just great work, faultless ....
Thanks for posting.
(Would make a cracking Christmas card).

Oh i really love the mood portrayed here. So effective. I like the color scheme and the mist that fills the tree.. rather different from the usual greenery we see... this is like a desert Forest.. (does that even make sense?!)
Nice one.
Steph
