[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was my last location of my vacation. We moved south to explore Loch Lomond & The Trossachs and visit Glascow. We did visit the city but didn't explore much of the area. The weather was just too bad to enjoy the outdoors. I think I've seen the summit of the mountains in the photo only once.

The last location does not mean the last photo in my travelogue. SO far I've mostly followed the date line of my vacation, making this the last photo in line. I will no go back and find some more photos worth to see daylight. These will not follow the date line but will follow my mood.

Loch Lubnaig is a small loch near Callander in the Stirling council area, Scotland. It lies in the former county of Perthshire.

It is around 5 km long, and has depths of up to 44.5 metres. The loch nestles in the space between Ben Ledi and Ben Vorlich. Fed by the River Balvaig from the north and drained by the River Leny to the south. The route of the former Callander and Oban Railway runs along the west shore of the loch.

The name Lubnaig is a Gaelic one, meaning crooked.

This day was the first day I was able to try out my new Wellies. After searching my entire vacation for Wellies, we finally found a great store in Grantown-on Spey on the day we left for this location. There would have been so many other moments during this vacation that I needed them more. Now my Wellies are at home waiting to be used for a second time and many more after.

One request: Can somebody give me the names of the flowers you see in this photo. In a later stage I will upload some close ups of them and would like to have their names.

Un paisaje encantador, sobre todo con esas brumas que se asientan en la cumbre de la montaņa.

About the flowers identification, maybe a member can give you an indication for example Ori Fragman Sapir.
Well done

Groeten, Jacob

You sure had some gray days on your trip. I'm glad to read in your note that you also had some sun. I like this image a lot. I really like the strong foreground. I like the foreshortened loch and the distant "V" of the mountains inviting us on. You managed good depth of focus and soft natural colors.

Nice work,

Evelynn : )

Hello Niek,
A wonderful composition with this attractive landscape!
And of course bad weather can give interesting photographs, here the low clouds and muted colours create a special atmosphere...
Composition wise I like inclusion of the wild flowers in front!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Niek,
Can't help you with the ID's of the flowers but it's a well composed and exposed landscape photo with good POV, DOF, exposure handling and nice colors. TFS
Best wishes,
Selen

good use of that 24 wa..which brings the whole countryside into my room.
typical and enchanting weather for scotland keeps the contrast levels low and gives mood and atmosphere...
the flowers do the trick though with an elevating foreground
cheers

Hello Niek,
Very nice scenery. Beautiful place in colours of summer. Superbly placed plans in the picture. First plan, almost spring- and full of flowers. Second plan abutting with the horizon and the cloudy sky. Nice, subdued colouring, good lights and the superb sharpness.
Best regards from Poznan,
Jurek

Superb point of view, Niek.
I love the flowers strewn foreground. It gives a fine balance to the picture as whole.
The silvery sheen on water and the low mist on the hills look fabulous in this great landscape image.
Thanks for sharing and take care.

Hi Niek,
Long time no communicate! Sorry about that. Life sometimes just gets to complicated. I would love to just hike in this beautiful landscape you have posted. Nice composition with the use of the wild flowers in the foreground. The cloudy skies allowed for rich color saturation. This sets a nice moody feel to the scene. A very good sense of depth and sharpness.
Very nice!
Scott

Hi Niek,
well the weather certainly looks reminiscant of the time i was there! But as always you have overcome the small factor of poor light by making a superb shot out of a well seen composition and interesting content. The sea of flowers in the FG is just great and lets the eye drift past them and on down the valley. The exposure is good too, especially as i see you didn't use a grad to balance the sky. Did you consider maybe a higher POV to get more of the reflection? I expect this wasn't really possible.
I'm sure it won't be long until your wellies have another outing..(is that just an English term or do you call them that in Holland??)
tfs and have a great weekend.

I like the very soft feel of this shot, Niek. I think the flowers and grasses in the fg as well as the soft clouds make for it. It all comes together nicely. At first I was thinking like Paul that a little bit higher perspective would have separated the flowers from the lake more. And then I read your note that it wasn't even possible. But the more I look at the photo, the more I think I prefer it just the way it is -- it really adds a very flat horizon feel that I think reflects the reality.
Mike

Hello Niek.
Sounds like scotland in the summer :) I remember being there in August a long time ago and it was the same. But it gave you lovely light and dramatic skies. Good composition, the way the eye leads back across the lake. I like those flowers. Well done my friend. Have a good week.
Best regards, Steve.

Hi Niek,
excellent POV,saturation and colors.
