[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The views of the rock formation known as the Old Man of Storr dominate the road north from Portree into the Trotternish Peninsula. The POV here was from the forest which leads you up to the Storr.

I had other plans for the Storr/Quirang and two days earlier and was ready to climb the Storr at 4am in the morning at the foot of this forest but on that occasion the weather and visibility was so bad it would have been pointless and dangerous for my first attempt not knowing the location.

On this day I was heading out of Skye and decided to come back to give it a second go. Despite what you see all was not well. First, time was limited and Joanna was getting impatient by this stage. Second while climbing up there she fell and hurt her leg just as we were hit by a hail of hail-stones, so I got up there and took a few shots but I shall have to return maybe next year.

Now that I seen Scotland Iv kind of got my bearings and certainly will make a return trip and target certain areas. The weather further north was completely overcast so Orkney and other isles was out.

Hi Stephen,
how do you do it?!?
A superb capture.
Very well composed.
Well done,

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for sharing your beautiful images; it is great to see Scotland through your lens.
In the camera field you mentioned the Lee Filter System; have you used a specific filter. Further on is there any postprocessing for example to get darker clouds?
Congrats!

Hi Steve,
I have to get used this photo comming from you. I miss the large element of water in this photo. Something that is almost always present in your photos. But, I think I do see a little stream.
I hope to be able to visit the old Man of Storr as well, but I am not sure I will make it.
A wonderful composition with great use of the wide angle and the tree in the FG. The weahter might not have been great, it did help to make this sky wonderful.

Niek

Hello Stephen,
A most beautiful landscape-picture, taken from an excellent point of view, leading the eye from the tree in the front to the rock formation and the wonderful sky in the back. Very nice light too. Scotland really seems to be rich in marvellous landscapes.
Thsnk's and best regards
Anne

Hi stephen

It is a real shame that the weather was not too good for you and I have to say that I am holding my breat for my visit in a month... hopefully it will improve a touch (torential rain and flooding don't really make for the best of holidays!)...

I love the shot and recognised it immediately (having climbed it when I was much younger and not restricted by my arm injury as I am now...)

I really love the light in this picture and as usual you have managed to include so much to look at it.

The compostion is excellent (goes without saying really) and the colours so very Scotland!

TFS
Emma

Composition works really well. You achieved the objective of moving the observers eye across the scene reallyt well.
Excellent contratsing light.

Chris
