Another picture from the early morning scramble to the top of Ben A'an I have described previously. It's a good 45 min hike with big bag of camera equipment and tripod. Once up and alone the views across Loch Achray and Loch Venachar are superb.

On this morning the whole landscape was blanketed in a thick shroud of mist. As the sun rose the mist began to move and disperse gradually revealing the features of trees and landscape that were previously hidden.

I really enjoyed watching the mist fade and the firs emerge into visability. With the sun punching shafts of light through the mist the colour and scene had a dream like quality which is what I tried to capture here.

The trees are mainly a mixture of Douglas Fir and Scots Pine.

I hope you like it.

The "state" should be Stirling but it's not on the list.

I've given up using points so feel free to comment, critique, leave points or don't leave points - it's completely up to you!

Hello Paul,
Very moody picture - mists are always great phenomena to photograph. B&W works perfectly here, well adjusted tones. It looks like a frame from a Hammer horror movie. I like them a lot, in fact!
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Paul,
Very aesthetic image. Look like traditional chinese painting....
Great shot.

Hello Paul,
This is a very impressive and beautiful scenery. What a place and a good timing for this picture with the fog; good use of B&W. This is superb and worth the hike! Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Paul
Excellent shot of fog in the valleys. Magical time of day.
Regards
Greg

This was worth the trek and wait. I really like "layers" in photographs. I spent some time looking into this photograph. Cheers.

Hello Paul,
this zig zag pattern is really nice in this image. The image has kind of multi layer. My eyes are constantly looking for new features in the image; and they are there in a subtile way: fog or trees. Well balanced picture. Compliments!

Wow - what a wonderful capture you have made there Paul. Makes me really envious. I haven't had too much opportunity for shots like this since last Easter...

Great detail and composition. as always just the right levels of contrast and detail. The curves in the land just make it an excellent shot....

Hi Paul

Another splendid view from the top of Ben A'an!
You know...most of the people would have been discuraged by the thick mist and probably wouldn't have taken any photos...but not you!
You took this chance and these interesting circumstances and made sure you wouldn't leave there empty-handed. Furthermore, the result were original and brilliant!
Again, this picture has a fantastic composition with the smaller peaks emerging from the mist, with excellent details on the visible firs and with a lot of atmosphere enhanced here by the B&W.
Another GREAT work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Belle photo, le rendu de cette brûme est magnifique, les montagnes sont bien visible et semble emerger de ce brouillard. Amitiés Thomas

Hi dear Paul ,
excellent shot with several nice layers.
very well done.
great shot.
thank you for sharing my friend

A classic picture and a work of art in black and white, Paul.
There is a dream-like quality about the wispy mist floating in-between the wooded ridges. The higher vantage point does a great job here.
Many thanks for sharing this materpiece.

A classic shot, Paul and well executed on this occasion. The lovely landscape and striking tree shapes help of course. The best we have around here are the Chilterns, and they are not quite the same. Fog and mist can give us great shots, contrart to what non-photographers would think. You've just got to put in the effort and get out there at the right time!

Hi Paul,
Great to see another beautiful photo from your 'misty' moment on top of Ben A'an. I sure need to remember this area for my summer trip. The B/W conversion is perfect with such great details. I really hope to experience something like this and then have my camera with me to capture it.
TFS,
Niek

Hola Paul. Bella postal, una gran fotografia en blanco y negro. Saludos Luis52.

I love the pattern you captured here Paul. The sharpness of the trees in contrast to the softness of the mist is amazing and fun to sit and gaze at. I think you captured what you were aiming for.

Thanks for sharing

I love it, I always want to try and capture a scene like this, but somehow it never turns out as lovely as this. All the zigzagging lines of mist are wonderful, such a peaceful mood here, well done.

Hello Paul,
What an enigmatic scene!
I like so much the effect of the mist, and the way the composition are made of succesive layers of mountains.
When looking at, the image is so suggestive...it has movement.
Great job done, thanks for share and best regards,
JM
