Pistyll Rhaeadr

Pistyll Rhaeadr is the tallest waterfall in Wales. Located a few miles from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, it is formed by the Afon Disgynfa river passing over a 240-foot (75 m) Silurian cliff-face, after which the river is known as the Afon Rhaeadr. Pistyll Rhaeadr, whose name means the "spring of the waterfall", is counted as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The 19th century author George Borrow remarked of the waterfall, "I never saw water falling so gracefully, so much like thin, beautiful threads as here".

Hi Matthew,
lovely effect from the long exposure and nice colours in the vegetation too. I think i might have gone for a bit less of a central composition, but thats just personal preference. Have you been to the Aber Falls in North Snowdonia? I'm intrigued as to what the other 6 Wonders of Wales are...
tfs and have a good weekend
Paul

Hello Matthew, excellent photo with an effect of movement, it is splendid

Mich,

Hi Matthew,
I have to agree with Paul on the very effective use of the shutter speed but also on the composition. But I understand that you might not haver that much options to go for. You did capture a wonderful waterfall with a beautiful drop. I do feel that you might want to adjust your white balance, the water is a tad too blue. You could add a bit more yellow to the photo to overcome this.
TFS,
Niek

:) tomorrow

After browsing your photos, this is my favorite. Great capture and composition. The contrast is wonderful. I particulary like the shapes the water has made. Great photo.
