This picture was taken at the Gigrin Farm near Rhayader.
This is an official Red Kite Feeding station of the RSPB. The red kites are fed every day (during summer at 3pm / during winter at 2pm). You can watch this from hides and this makes a wonderful and impressive spectacle. When I visited this feeding centre, a large group (30-40) of red kites grouped together shortly before the time of feeding. After the pieces of meat where shattered on the ground they al started swooping down to get their share.

I really enjoy the show they're putting on - gives me a great sense of what it must be like to soar. Nice contrast with the blue sky and they seem to be moving quickly.
