Hello Everyone,

This is another shot from my recent trip to the Elan Valley in Mid Wales, taken very early one morning just as the sun had peeked over the tops of the surrounding trees. I had awoken at about 4.45am in my tent to the deafening early dawn chorus of what seemed like thousands of birds in the trees above me and bright sunshine streaming in.
Rather than just lay there dozing, i thought i'd drag myself out of my warm sleeping bag and explore along the river Wye that flowed through the site where we were staying and wait for my friends to wake up.
After a 10 minute walk through some thick deciduous woods i came across this spot, where i sat and absorbed the warmth of the sun on some rocks and listened to the sound of these falls and a Woodpecker somewhere in the branches above.
I stayed here for about half an hour before my need for a hot cup of tea got the better of me and walked back to put the kettle on. A superb start to what turned out to be a very long but excellent day!

not much PP, reduced highlight in the foam a tad, tweaked curves, resized, sharpened and converted to JPEG..

Thanks for looking..

Paul

AhhhhhI can hear it now...brings back fond memories of my morns in the wilderness...Cannot imagine why but I actually still camped out in tents and in my tipi once in a while just to get out of the small cabin..Beautiful...hard image to get due to heavy sun and contrasts but you managed well Paul. The smell of a hot cup but not sure if that is the tradition "over there"....some do tea...I am a cup of Joe and some running brooks..

This is an amazing exposure Paul.
Its fantastic how you captured the blue of the sky,as well as all the foreground detail.
Before reading your note I thought you must have done a lot of pp work to get it this good.
A great capture.

Hallo Paul
Time was my biggest enemy lately, and I have lots of catching up to do. What a delightful and most welcome sight and scenery you are sharing with us. The colours of the various aspects of nature all in this one image and the light captured are just great. It has such a calming effect only looking at it on the screen. I think the feeling experiencing it in the real must be awesome. You are very fortunate to have these sceneries to photograph and just adore for its beauty. This is a stunning image. A warm and refreshing sight on this slightly cold day in South Africa. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Paul!

Although the water is blurred, the whole picture keeps its natural aspect. It is rich of details and the lighting is superb. You present us a wild, lonesome and romantic spot in a wonderful nature.

Kind regards
