[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Mallard Drake is on The Thames at Eton. I like the contrast of colors on the head, chest and bill, with that white ring breaking things up. Cropped for composition, I used unsharp mask to remove haze, and cleaned up a bit of river foam from the background by cloning. Used the clarify tool at minimum setting and added a matt... at which I am not very good, having no idea of what sort of dimensions to use, so I go by what seems reasonable to my eye...picked the color for the matt out of the duck's plummage. I used Paint Shop Pro Photo XI.

The bird in this photo is an example of a Mallard drake in breeding plummage. Pairs are formed only at the beginning of the breeding season; the male leaves the female as soon as eggs are produced.

Beautiful picture I love the colors and the sharpness of this photograph.Perhaps I would have like to see a bit more room on the left side of the head of that beautiful bird.

It's a bit tight and I prefer a lower POV.

Wonderful details and light on your mallard. Those green feathers are wonderful. Great catchlight in the eye. I like the tight framing as well
