Hi Simon,
congrats on your new lens, it's very good, I know, I have own one for my Canon and it worked well with a 1.4x Sigma converter.
Yur picture is very nice with good details and lovely colours.

Splendid work and splendid choice! Congrats on your new toy and hope we'll see lots of cool photos with it:)
It seems to be working very well and for an apperture value of only F/2.8 you've got a great DOF on this shot.
I really this "busy" composition...it gives an excellent impression on the gregarious way of life of the starlings.
You also managed to capture some pretty wonderfull poses here and at 1/800 you froze the movement very nicely.
What i actually love at this shot is the fact taht you have as BG for the birds both grass and trees as well as that lovely blue sky...what a supeb color pallete.
The warm evening light did great to saturate all the tones and the exposure you used is...well...perfect!
Having said all that, the only thing i can add is a big BRAVO and "To many more!" [imagine me now raising a glass to that ;)) ]

That turned out good for 2.8. I would think it would be overexposed. Great wing stoppage and point of view.
