Back on The Thames today and that means swans.... again. Still getting to grips with my camera so I was really just trying out various settings. The weather was very mercurial today, windy with clouds scudding by, which made for constantly changing light. Swans and coots present a challenge to me, with contrast and detail, under the best of conditions; today was exasperating, lol. I was trying for some head shots, looking for expression in the eyes and such. Missed that in this shot, but got an interesting image.. the symmetry created by the dribbling water and the curve of the neck. Not the sharpest photo, but with a bit of editing it's presentable.
I didn't have to crop too much, just tidied up the edges. Lightened it a little, ran it through clarify and then the digital noise removal tool, in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI. After resizing it I used the sharpen tool at a small radius with very little strength to lift some of the highlights.
As always, tips, hints, suggestions are welcome. :-) |

Well focused and composed shot Mish. Nice and sharp details in the feathers in the neck and water drops are crystal sharp. Probably been better if you shot this lower to the ground.

Hello Mish,
Good portrait, action is well frozen as I like the drops falling off the beak!
Good definition and a beautiful colour palette, well framed in a pleasant tight composition!
Greetings,
Pablo -
