The title came to me because this swan seems to be putting his best foot forward (or backward in this case) in that classic, classy, aristocratic pose that we all know so well. This posturing is called 'busking'.

From Wikipedia:

Mute Swans are strongly territorial. The familiar pose with neck curved back and wings half raised, known as busking, is a threat display.

Although this bird can be tame, especially to those who feed it daily, it is aggressive in defence of its nest, and its size and impressive hissing make it a formidable adversary for animals as large as a fox. There have been many reports of Mute Swans attacking people who enter their territory.

Using a tip someone here on TrekNature gave, I used spot metering to try and keep areas of the swan from over exposing. Considering that it was a cloudless, bright sunny day, it seemed to work and I'm happy with the amount of detail.

There's some 'noise' in the image. The ISO was at 400 and I've found that above 200 you will start getting noise in the FZ50. It can be reduced by editing, I forgot to have a play before uploading unfortunately.

Hello Mish,
You have done some lovely bird photography. I enjoyed visiting your site. This is a particularly good capture of the swan. I particularly like the light and shadows on the soft feathers, the detail and the reflections in the clear water. Well done!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Beautiful shot of the Mute Swan, great composition and its a lovely pose with a really nice reflection in the water, the colours are just beautiful and you have done well with the white considering the bright sunshine.

Mike Lovely reflection of this beautiful swan. The color and sharpness is is lovely. . Ganesh

Full and fluffy, sharp and downy, crisp above the water and a sort of dissolving symmetry beneath it. Yes, there's a little noise, but not enough to be distracting in those close-up, well-framed and well-positioned image.

TFS, Mish.

Hello Mish!
