The cardinal beetle is a brightly-coloured red or orange beetle with a black face and is approximately 20 mm long.

It preys on other insects and is normally fond on flowers at the edges of woodland.

It is a strong flier. The cardinal beetle is bright red; in that way it warns predators that it is toxic.

Scary little bugger. Not sure if that is the Queens Englsih, but it does look frightening. Super nice close work. Too much side detail would have ruined it. A wonderful picture.

Hi Joey, Slight blurr in the picture because of too much closeup. Perhaps may be I am wrong. But very informative shot and can u pls give technical details. I like the way it is holding the wood. Ganesh
