Kittiwake and chicks.
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Taken on the Farne Islands where these beautiful gulls were perched on nesting ledges fairly close to the footpath. The pure white head and chest and the rocks covered in droppings make for dificult metering.
Camera settings:- ISO 200, AV, Spot metering,1.4x converter, remote shutter cable, 560mm focal length. |

Hi Peter,
I'm not sure, Peter, but underexposure would have been an option here; to get detail in the highlights; I'm referring to the head area...
Wonderful content of course and well composed...

Hi Peter, a magnificent close up shot of the Kittiwae and chicks. You must have worked hard to get this shot. Exposure looks good and all nice and sharp preserving the fluff feathers on the chicks. POV and pose from mum is lovely. Great tones and colour. Wonderfuls shot.

You have done a great job evaluating the metering on this one. Never easy to photog white subjects like this.
