Hi Nick
Glad to see that you've been out spending the day wisely. Did you see any of the cranes that have been by Julians bridge lately ? Good focus that captures your eye well.

Hi Nick,
Brilliant shot; a study in green! Colours are magnificent and the diagonal framing really works well. The arching leaf really lifts the compo. Focussing is just where it should be - on the eyes.
Beautiful all around! well captured and TFS

Hello Nick,
It was a good idea to post this picture since you captured it so well and in beautiful colors.
Composition:
I like your diagonal composition a lot as it excels in a few great features. You placed the head of the Banded Demoiselle into a powerful point of the composition. This is important as it shows us the most interesting element in your picture. I also appreciate you avoided the leaf leaving the frame exactly through the corner. The excellent, OOF background is very appropriate for your subject as it makes it stand out and also creates an atmosphere characteristic for the damselfly's environment. The empty space around the subject is also well distributed and creates a balanced picture. Very well done!
Colors:
The dominant green hue is only diversified by the metallic iridescence in the damselfly's body. This is sufficient to add more interest to the subject.
Contrast:
The overall contrast in your picture is excellent as it is stronger in the foreground and lower in the background. It clearly emphasizes the great details in the damselfly.
Exposure:
The excellent exposure with soft shadows preserved the details perfectly. Even the metallic reflections in the subject's body are well exposed. I wasn't able to find any over- or underexposed areas in your picture. Great job!
Focus:
Very good focus right on the subject! The great DOF is crucial for the success of this photo as it isolates the damselfly from the leaves in the background. Maybe the rear part of its body is not in sharp focus but I take it as a positive thing because it makes me look back at the subject's face.
Overall a great posting with interesting notes! I wish I had more information on the camera settings. Thanks for sharing!
With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
