Hello,

just a simple composition from a place i've posted before, Hengistbury Head in Dorset. I got here just after sunset and waited for a while until the moon took over the sky. I'm not too sure about the composition and perhaps the moons' glare is a tad strong, but i like the overall atmosphere.

Some moonlight facts, from Wikipedia

Moonlight is the light that comes to Earth from the Moon. This light does not originate in the Moon, but is actually reflected sunlight. The intensity of moonlight varies greatly depending on the current lunar phase, but even the full moon typically provides only a faint illumination of about 0.2 lx, so the full moon is about 500,000 times fainter than the sun. When the moon is viewed at high altitude at tropical latitudes, the illuminance can reach 1 lx.[1] The color of moonlight, particularly near full moon, appears bluish to the human eye compared to most artificial light sources.

shot in RAW, rotated, midtones lightened a tad and highlights reduced. Then resized and sharpened +4 , converted to jpeg.

Thanks for looking

Hi Paul,
A beautiful image!
I like so much the effect of the long exposure used, the softness on the water is so pleasant to look at.
Did you made any special treatment to the sea in PP?
I ask because the reflection of the moon's light on the water looks a little unnatural at the horizon, it has no perspective...but perhaps its due to the 15 sec. exposure.
It's very good the wide composition made here.
Well done and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Paul...Like this composition and the smooth look from the long exposure. Good detail held in the rocks at the front too. Best, Brat.

Beautiful and simple...........Simply beautiful land/seascape image Paul.
Wonderful light and reflection of the moonlight on the water surface.
Composition is excellent with the rocks at the foreground leading the eye in to the scene.
Perfect use of slow shutter speed to soften the water nicely.
Very, very well done. Best regards, Harry

Hi Paul,
I like this! Good composition, I like the rocks in the foreground, and the soft water effect is beautiful. I also like the moon shining on the water. Well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Hello Paul,
What a peaceful, pleasant image you present to us here marvelous job Paul, cheers.
Rick

Beautiful image Paul.
Ditto to all the other comments on your slow shutter effect, composition, view pin sharp and leading the eye along the coastline, just brillant.
The moon being low on the horizon, is it not far from setting, the reflection is quite golden instead of a shimmering silver?

Hi Paul, this is quite incredible with the 15 seconds time lapse. It almost seems like a painting.

Thanks, John

Hi dear Paul ,
lovely shot. it has great composition and nice reflexion.
sharpness and colours are excellent.
well captured
Thanks for sharing

Hi Paul,

I like long exposure shots like this. I think this works well, the composition is pretty good. I'm surprised that you've used f10.
A much smaller aperture would normally be used to have everything sharp from fore to background, but your shot is clear with nice detail.

Hi Paul

Simple composition? I guess not :) This is actually a splendid shot with a lot of attention given to the composition.
The FG is very well balanced and lightened and also presented with tones of details. It gives a great sense of texture to the scene.
The long shutter effect on the water evens that up well, making it contrast somehow with the rocks.
The beech on the left looks great, too and the fact that it ends with a higher coast, also ensures attention to the BG. Further more, that particular coast in carefully defining 1/3 of the length of the frame.
The moon is another gorgeous element and gives a beautiful patch of light to the picture. Again, its positioning is at about 1/3 from the right border...so, i'd say this is a pretty awesome composition :)
Great work with the DOF, too, lovely colors and exposure.

BRAVO and TFS

Hi Paul,
This is really a marvelous photo. Such a tranquil feel, especially with the smooth texture of the ocean and the golden moon. Details are absolutely perfect and the composition is perfect. Great work on the exposure.

One of your best yet I reckon, this is a really goody - am a little envious of that lens of yours though (still). Damn my shopping spree at the weekend.

Hi Paul,
I remember this spot from another photo of yours. This one is special though. The moon, with a slight motion after 15 seconds, and its warm reflection look beautiful. I also like the effect of the long exposure on the water surface, as well as all the colors in the picture. Regards,
Hakan

Hi Paul. A very good composition with exceptional reflection set off centre. The composition has a wonderful surreal ambiance. Good work. Murray.

Wow - that is really something! Tranquility at it's best! Maybe you're right about the moon's glare - but it is a stunning image either way! BR Klaus

Hi Paul, I am always interested in moonlit shots like this as they have a eerie appearance. Overall I think a successful shot. Maybe darkening the image down would give it even more mood. well done.

Paul this shot has a surreal quality that is spectacular!
Any idea why the moon turns into a six-beam star?

Small nit, the horizon is just a smidge off...
which is emphasized by the two black bars. Tfs, Jay

PS I am cursed with a carpenter's eye.

Great job with this Paul, I like it.
The 15 seconds really laid down a nice moon beam across the water..
I don't think the moon has enough glare to be a problem, and I like the overall atmosphere too :)

I can see the Isle of Wight from here :-) Great shot Paul, the atmosphere is excellent. Great detail and exposure, and though I agree the glare from the moon is a little bright it gives the image an 'other worldly' feel. The only solution would be to sit tight for an hour and wait until the moon is out of frame. It's a great image, thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Paul
Wonderful composition and beautiful reflection. I like the soft water effect and nice depth in this.Very good work!!!!

Amazing photo, almost looks unreal, like you painted the scene..cheers

Hello Paul,

What do you say about not to sure the composition and perhaps the moons' glare is a tad strong.!!! You must be crazy Paul (-: What a composition. Marvelous. The icelook from the seasurface and the very smooth rolling waves on the beach. Splendid. The FG and BG are sharp. Yes, oké, oké If you want some critiques here it comes. The moon's glare is a bit to strong. Now and so what. I like this photograph. You did a great job. Thanks. Regards and TFS BOB
