[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the same robin I saw last week and whose picture I posted with the title of Sun Bather. I know it's the same robin as we fished in the same location and robins are nothing if not territorial. One robin to a patch. I tend to name critters that I see on a regular basis... there's Vernon the Vole at our favorite spot on The Thames here at the college... yeah I know... pathetic.. what can I say. The sun bather, therefore, was christened Scruffy due to his rather bedraggled appearance. This weekend Scruffy appeared minus the two or three tail feathers he'd been sporting last week. With no tail he looks so very round.. like a colorful cotton ball. This photo shows him, sans tail, quite well.

It was taken at a bit of a distance and so is lacking some finer detail, but I like the colors and the dappled sunlight on the branches. I had to crop it quite severely to keep him from getting lost in the underbrush and to achieve what I think is a decent composition. Post processing consisted of adjusting the colors with the color fade tool, manually adjusting the contrast/brightness for a little more depth, one pass through digital noise removal and fixing the rest of the BG noise with the soften tool set low. Once it was resized I picked out a few individual details with the sharpen tool, again set low. This was done in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI.

Hi Mish,
i love the setting for this shot, amongst the branches and leaves where he should be.
The lighting is nice, and the PP work you've done on the selective sharpening is good too.
well done!

Hi Mish,
what a charming little robin you have graced TN with. You have good colour and detail working well for you. They sure do not look anything like the American robins I know but this was the first to be called robin and is rather cute looking at that.Tfs.
